Are you thinking about planning something extra special with your significant other for Valentine’s Day this year but not sure what to do? There are so many unique and romantic ways to spend this delightful day. Some people prefer to go the traditional route and enjoy an intimate candlelit dinner at a gourmet restaurant. At the same time, some couples might want to do an adventurous activity in the great outdoors, and others are more comfortable staying cozy at home.

We know every couple is different, so we came up with a wide range of ideas for this year’s Valentine’s Day. We know that at least one of these will appeal to you, so go through the list with your partner — or alone if you’re planning a sweet surprise — and see how you can spice up your special romantic day.

SURPRISE YOUR PARTNER BY RECREATING YOUR FIRST DATE

Couples who have been together for a long time may feel that initial spark they had at the beginning of their romance start to wane as daily routines like housekeeping, child-rearing, and long workdays set in. What better time than Valentine’s Day to ignite the flame and rekindle those passionate and exciting days from the start of the relationship?

Remind your significant other of some of your earliest and most precious memories by recreating your first date. Whether it was a fun movie night, a hike out in the woods, or dinner at a neighborhood restaurant, try to remember as many details from that first romantic night together as you can and match your Valentine’s Day as closely as possible.

TAKE A TRIP IN YOUR OWN TOWN

Most people can’t afford to take a big trip to Paris or Rome for Valentine’s Day. However, you and your loved one don’t need to spend thousands of dollars and fly around the world to have a romantic day or night out as tourists. Instead, explore your backyard in Seminole like you’re on vacation and discover something you never knew about your town.

Is there a museum you have always wanted to visit? A unique venue you haven’t been to yet? Or perhaps an interesting attraction in Oklahoma City you haven’t really explored yet? Whatever it is, almost every couple has something they’ve wanted to do in Seminole, but life gets too busy, and it just gets pushed aside. Make Valentine’s Day the day you take a staycation and finish the day off with an incredible gourmet dinner for that extra touch of class.

ENJOY DINNER AT DON CIRO’S

Head to one of the top-rated restaurants in Seminole to enjoy a great dining experience in a cozy, warm atmosphere. Each staff member at Don Ciro’s prides themselves on their friendly and professional service. They work extra hard to make all their customers feel cared for and special.

Guests rave about the costillas featuring delectable pork ribs cooked in a choice of red or green sauce. The molcajete is a customer favorite and combines several meat varieties, including carne asada, chicken, and chorizo. Both dishes are served with rice, beans, and guacamole, providing the perfect finishing touch to each hearty and flavorful meal. The restaurant is located at 100 N. Main St. in Seminole. If you can’t make a reservation here for Valentine’s Day, try one of the many other highly-rated Mexican restaurants nearby.

BOOK A COUPLES MASSAGE

Take a break from the stress of daily life and experience a day of rejuvenation by booking a couples massage. If you have the time, you can make your massage part of a whole spa day and engage in self-care and a bit of pampering as a couple. Nothing is more romantic than relaxing with each other and taking care of your mind and body together. Shared experiences can only strengthen your romantic bond, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for indulging in some rest and relaxation together.

GO STARGAZING AT TENKILLER STATE PARK

Seminole residents are lucky to live in one of the best places for stargazing in the continental United States. If you want to spend a night looking up at the Milky Way, there are many rural areas you can choose from, but we highly recommend heading out to Tenkiller State Park.

Just under two hours away from Seminole, Tenkiller State Park is known as one of the best dark sky sites in the state. People come here from all over Oklahoma to stargaze far away from the light pollution of major towns and cities. So head out to Tenkiller State Park with your partner, bring snacks and drinks, and spend an evening observing the awe-inspiring stars and planets of the majestic night sky.

If you can take a day off, we recommend you stay in the area overnight in one of the many available cabins — or a tent, if you’re up for roughing it — and spend the next day in the glorious outdoors. After all, the park is known for its large, crystal-clear lake, stunning hiking trails, and a variety of water sports.

HAVE A ROMANTIC DATE NIGHT AT HOME

It’s nice to have a romantic night out or explore the great outdoors, but for some couples, a romantic evening at home is just what the doctor ordered. So pick a tried-and-true recipe you both love, or choose the one you’ve wanted to try for a long time and make it together. Plan ahead as much as possible and shop for your ingredients the day before to ensure you have everything on hand.

After you’re done with dinner — and don’t forget dessert — pick your favorite romantic movie or two and settle in for a cozy night on the couch. What could be more romantic than watching a movie, snacking on popcorn, and snuggling under a blanket far removed from Oklahoma’s wintry February cold? Some of our favorite timeless romantic comedies include “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Moonstruck,” and “When Harry Met Sally.” Then, for one of our favorite romances of all time, check out “Dirty Dancing.”

Whether you’re looking to spend Valentine’s Day in a more traditional way or want to try something completely different this year, we are confident there’s a suggestion on our list that will appeal to most Seminole locals. If you or your sweetheart have another great idea for Valentine’s Day in Seminole that we didn’t mention, please contact us at Seminole Chevrolet Buick GMC and let us know. We’d love to add it to our list and include it in a future article.

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is a pickup truck that can help you haul heavy loads both on and off the roads. It has both onboard and hitch towing, which can allow you to attach trailers or place your cargo in the bed of the truck. This vehicle gets good gas mileage for its class of vehicle and can help you move heavy or light cargo locally or across the country. Keep reading to learn about what trim levels are and how the trim levels of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 differ from one another.

What Are the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Trim Levels?

Sierra 1500 Line up

2023 GMC Sierra 1500

Trim levels are sets of different pre-packaged features that come with different versions of the same vehicle. For example, a base or standard package comes with the primary features of the vehicle, but may not come with additional packages such as premium interiors or additional comforts and technology. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 comes in a massive eight different trim levels. Each trim level has critical features that differ from the others. The trim levels of this vehicle are:

  • Pro
  • SLE
  • Elevation
  • SLT
  • AT4
  • AT4X
  • Denali
  • Denali Ultimate

Pro

The Pro trim level is the base version of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. It comes with a standard array of pickup features, including safety technology. Along with the SLE, Elevation, and SLT trims, it also comes with different options for the cab of the vehicle, allowing you to fit more passengers or allow more bed space in your vehicle. You have the options of a crew cab, a double cab, or a regular cab. The crew and double cab both have a second row of seats, while the regular cab only has front-row seats, which allows for a longer bed.

SLE

The SLE trim level is the second version of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. It comes with the same features as the Pro trim level but also includes the options for several features including a more powerful engine. The 5.3-liter V-8 or the 3.0-liter turbodiesel compared to the standard 2.7-liter engine brings both more horsepower and more torque. This means the truck has overall more power, which makes it easier to haul large cargo, such as heavy bed loads or trailers.

This trim level also has a more detailed infotainment system, as well as heated seats, steering wheel, and exterior mirrors to make driving more comfortable.

Elevation

The Elevation is an excellent middle ground between the base version of the truck and the higher trim levels. It has similar engine and performance options as the SLE, but has additional exterior changes that make the truck more visually appealing. These features include LED fog lights, monochromatic accents, a better suspension system for larger loads, larger wheels, and a black front grille. If you’re looking for better towing and hauling capabilities plus a nicer appearance for your truck, then the Elevation is the right trim level for you.

SLT

If you weren’t pleased with the engine options from the previous trim models, then perhaps having a fourth option is for you. The SLT offers the same three engines as the lower trim levels but adds the option of a 6.2-liter V-8. This engine is much more powerful than the others, making your driving and towing that much easier. The SLT version of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 also comes with an improved speaker system, passenger seats with power adjustment, and auto-dimming mirrors to protect you and your passengers from dangerous glare.

AT4

The AT4 is the first version of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 that is designed for offroading. With this version of the truck, you get a full off-road package, including standard four-wheel drive, 10-speed automatic transmission, skid plates, and an engine heater for cold weather. If these options aren’t enough to satisfy your offroading fix, the truck also comes with recovery hooks, off-road tires, and an impressive air filter to help keep the cabin clear of various hazards from offroading. This version and the AT4X are excellent choices for avid offroaders.

AT4X

The AT4X is the second option for off-road drivers. It also has many additional comforts. At its base, it has the same features as the AT4 for offroading. In addition to these features, it also has larger wheels, a more powerful alternator, more adjustment for the power seats, and even more speakers. Unlike the AT4, which gives you the option of the 3.0-liter turbodiesel or the 6.2-liter V-8, the AT4X comes standard with the V-8 engine. This means it can apply its maximum power to its larger wheels to give you even better handling.

Denali

The last two trim levels of the 2023 GMX Sierra 1500 are the luxury versions of the truck. The Denali comes with the same engine options as the SLE but only has four-wheel drive. The real luxury comes from the interior of the truck where you can have a full surround-view camera, wireless phone charging pad, 10-way adjustable power seats, and plenty of infotainment and technology features to keep you entertained. This version of the truck also comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, which can help you navigate brief periods of off-road driving.

Denali Ultimate

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is exactly that: the ultimate package of this truck. With this highest trim level, you can have every feature of the previous trim levels, and the option between the 3.0-liter turbodiesel or the 6.2-liter V-8 engine. With this trim level, you can basically pick and choose the options you want, handcrafting your truck to meet your exact needs, wants, and lifestyle.

The Chevrolet Suburban first arrived in 1935 and has impressed drivers with its capabilities and versatility ever since. This full-size SUV has a body-on-frame construction and room for up to eight people. Chevy offers it with a choice of engines and either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The Suburban has a bold exterior design with a range of features available, and the cabin is just as impressive with its abundant space and tech. Read below as our team at Seminole Chevrolet Buick GMC provides an overview of the Suburban’s interior and exterior features.

Exterior Design

The Sterling Grey Metallic Suburban Driving on a Desert Off-Road

2023 Chevrolet Suburban

Chevy offers the 2023 Suburban in six different trim levels, and each one has unique exterior features. The LS starts the lineup with 18-inch alloy wheels. It has rain-sensing windshield wipers that turn on automatically when they sense precipitation, LED taillights and daytime running lights, and automatic LED headlights that turn on and off according to traffic conditions. A step up from the base LS trim to the LT gets you a hands-free power liftgate, so you can easily access the cargo area, even if you have your hands full of gear, groceries, or children.

The RST is the sporty Suburban. It has 22-inch black-painted wheels, black exterior trim elements to give it a bolder style, and a unique front fascia. The RST, LT, and LS offer a new black front grille for the 2023 model year, with Chevrolet displayed in capital letters across the front.

If you plan to take your SUV over rough terrain, the Suburban Z71 is the model for you. It comes standard with four-wheel drive and extra off-road equipment, such as skid plates, all-terrain tires for the 20-inch wheels, and a two-speed transfer case. It also has red front tow hooks, a heavy-duty air filter, black textured side steps that run from wheel to wheel, and a uniquely designed front fascia. The redesigned front end improves the SUV’s approach angle, making it easier to drive over rocks and other off-road obstacles.

Stepping up to the Premier adds magnetic ride control and an optional power panoramic sunroof. The High Country has 22-inch alloy wheels and optional power-retractable running boards. It also stands out from the other models with a unique front grille design with bronze accents.

Interior Space and Seating

In its standard configuration, the Suburban has room for up to eight people. All three rows have plenty of headroom and legroom, and there’s easy access to every seat in the vehicle. You’ll also find impressive cargo space in the Suburban. Behind all three rows, there are 41.5 cubic feet, but this can expand to 93.8 cubic feet if you fold down the third row. With both back rows folded, it has more storage space than any regular-length full-size SUV. You can carry up to 144.7 cubic feet of gear for hitting the lakes near Seminole.

The cushioned front seats in the Suburban have plenty of support to keep you comfortable on long rides. The second row is roomy, with space for taller passengers to spread out. Although the third-row seats don’t have as much cushioning as the front two rows, there’s enough space for adults to ride comfortably.

The Premier and High Country trims switch out the second-row bench seat for captain’s chairs, making the second row even more comfortable even if it does reduce the seating to seven.

Interior Features

Cloth upholstery is standard in the lower Suburban trims, and even the base LS has convenient power-adjustable front seats. The leather-wrapped steering wheel gives the Suburban an upscale feel even for the entry-level trims, and it has a manual tilt-and-telescoping feature to help you find a comfortable position. Tri-zone automatic climate control is another standard feature in this SUV. Stepping up to the LT gets you heated front seats and leather upholstery for the first and second rows. It also adds driver’s seat memory settings and power-folding second-row and third-row seats.

When you want to get into luxury territory, the Premier and High Country have added cabin features to get you there. These trims have ventilated front seats, a power-folding third row, and a power-sliding center console that moves back and forth to help create extra space. They also upgraded the upholstery to perforated leather.

The RST trim has a distinctive look in the cabin, with RST-specific seats with contrasting stitching for a sportier feel.

Technology

You can’t have a luxury cruiser without the technology to keep everyone in the cabin entertained, and the 2023 Suburban has all the tech features you’ll need. If you start with the base LS trim, you’ll get an 8-inch touch screen that houses Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 system. It has Bluetooth, incorporates a six-speaker stereo system, and it works with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Satellite radio capability is also standard, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot, OnStar telecommunications, and six USB ports.

If you step up to the LT, a larger 10.2-inch touch screen sits in the middle of the dashboard to house the infotainment system instead of the 8-inch screen, and it has a 12-inch color digital gauge cluster in front of the driver. Wireless phone charging is another added tech feature in the LT, and this trim and above get built-in Google compatibility.

The Premier and High Country add to the tech features with a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound stereo system, and the High Country also adds a head-up display and a digital rearview mirror. The head-up display projects driver information on the windshield in front of you just below your line of sight so you can keep your eyes on the road. Depending on the trim level, a rear-seat entertainment system is available with two 12.6-inch LCD touch-screen displays.

The second engine option is a 6.6-liter turbodiesel. This upgrade will get you 445 horsepower and an impressive 910 lb-ft of torque. It works with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission, and this powertrain also comes with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

How Much Can the 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD Tow?

The 3500HD’s towing capacity varies depending on the engine, drivetrain, and the type of hitch you have. Adding the available tow package will increase towing capacity.

Gas Engine

  • Max towing power with conventional hitch: 16,800 pounds
  • Max towing power with fifth-wheel hitch: 17,200 pounds
  • Max towing power with gooseneck hitch: 17,200 pounds
  • Max payload: 7,442 pounds

Turbodiesel Engine

  • Max towing power with fifth-wheel hitch: 32,000 pounds
  • Max towing power with gooseneck hitch: 36,000 pounds

Towing Technology

GMC offers several advanced technology features to make towing easier and safer. You can easily keep an eye on your load with up to 15 different camera views. These include:

  • Transparent trailer view: Helps drivers virtually see through a compatible trailer
  • Hitch view: Allows drivers to see the trailer using the rear vision camera
  • Bed view: Provides a close-up view of the receiver hitch to help align the truck with the trailer
  • Standard rear camera view: Provides a view behind the Sierra 3500
  • Front camera view: Provides a view in front of the truck with guidelines
  • Surround-view: Gives a 360-degree view around the top of the truck
  • Front top-down view: Provides a top-down view of the front tires, bumper, and hood for more precise maneuvering
  • Rear top-down view: Displays the clearance between the truck bed and objects nearby
  • Front side view: Shows the front tires when parking the truck or maneuvering in small spaces
  • Rear side view: Displays a split view of the right and left sides of the Sierra 3500 and the trailer
  • Rear trailer view: Shows guidelines to help when backing the trailer and includes a system to provide the angle of the trailer to show where the truck is in relation to the trailer
  • Inside trailer view: Shows the inside of the trailer so the driver can monitor the contents
  • Picture-in-picture side view: Combines the rear trailer view with the rear side view
  • Rear camera mirror: Provides a conventional rearview mirror view or can be used as a camera-based rearview mirror

All these different views help make sure you know exactly what is going on with your load and what is happening around you.

The available rear camera mirror uses a camera to give you a wider view behind you. The broader view helps to eliminate obstructions that you might not see with a standard rearview camera. You can easily switch between the camera view and the traditional rearview mirror. The available HD surround vision camera uses several cameras to display a digital image from above the Sierra and trailer. It works when driving at low speeds and is helpful when you need to park in areas with objects that might be difficult to navigate around.

GMC ProGrade Trailering System

GMC offers the ProGrade Trailering System to make your trailering experience better than ever. While a typical towing package comes with the hitch, wiring connector, and hardware needed to hook up a trailer, GMC takes things much further. The advanced trailer system features added technology to help with the hitching and towing process, and it has tools to help drivers stay in control.

The system includes:

  • In-Vehicle Trailering App: The app is accessible through the GMC infotainment system and features pre-departure checklists, customizable trailer profiles, a trailer light test, a trailer tire pressure monitor, and a theft alert system
  • myGMC Mobile App: Sierra 3500HD owners with a compatible phone can use it to access trailering technology. The app has functions that include trailer profiles, pre-departure checklists, a trailer light test, a trailer load calculator, and alerts for trailer components, such as trailer miles and tire pressure
  • Smart Trailer: Drivers can control several smart features when pulling a recreational trailer with the ASA Electronics iN-Command Control System. Smart trailer is accessible through the GMC infotainment system or the myGMC Global app

Additional Trailering Technology

In addition to the multiple camera views and the ProGrade Trailering System, the 2023 GMC Sierra 3500 HD has a jackknife alert system. It tracks the position of the trailer in relation to the Sierra. If the front of the trailer starts to approach the rear of the truck, an alert will display on the dash to let the driver know there’s a potential for jackknifing.

A trailer length indicator is another optional feature. When this system is activated and the Sierra is moving forward with the turn signal activated, the center screen will show a red overlay that’s twice the length of the compatible trailer. It also indicates when there are other vehicles nearby that might get in the way if you change lanes.

The Latest Technology To Make Towing Easy

You can equip the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with a total of eight external cameras that can deliver up to 15 different angles. You can view your surroundings as you trailer and have full awareness of everything that’s around you. The camera system makes backing up a breeze because there are no more blind spots to worry about. Chevrolet has mounted a bed view camera in the stop-lamp found in the rear of the cab, and you can check on the trailer at any time as you drive. Some of the camera views include:

  • Hitch View
  • Surround-view
  • Rear top-down view
  • Front camera view
  • Pic-in-pic side view
  • Rear trailer view
  • Inside trailer view
  • Bed view
  • Rear side view (turn signal activated)

The standard trailering package comes with a 2.5-inch trailer hitch receiver and a seven-pin wiring connector with hitch guidance. Vertical trailering mirrors come standard on all trim levels for maximum viewing area and angles. Other standard features include StabiliTrak® with electronic trailer sway control, hill-start assist, auto-grade braking, and tow/haul mode. An integrated trailer brake controller also comes standard.

An advanced trailering system works with an app and lets you make and save customized trailer profiles, which you can select for each trailer you tow. It also includes a trailer light test, a pre-departure checklist, and trailer tire pressure monitoring.

Other available features include an electric parking brake hookup assist, trailer theft alert, and brake gain memory. The bed height allows clearance for fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers to minimize the risk of collision during a turn. A trailering information label is located on the driver’s side door jamb to provide at-a-glance towing information and capabilities for the truck.

Accessories in the Truck Bed Turn It Into a Workbench

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado features a bed that’s designed with more than enough cargo space and details to turn it into a workbench for those times you need plug-in power. The bed itself has 12 fixed tie-downs and features 83.5 cubic square feet of space on the long box, 69.5 cubic feet on the standard box, and 63 cubic feet on the short box.

The tailgate has an internal fold-down section that works as a desk space or level place to put just about anything you need to set down for a moment. LED lighting runs along the sides of the bed to flood it with light, and a 120-volt outlet lets you plug in anything from a laptop to a power tool.

The bumper features a cut-out that acts as a step into the bed. No more trying to reach the bumper and step over the tailgate with the fold-down center and cut-out bumper.

Oklahoma City (OKC) is the largest city in the state of Oklahoma, but it can be challenging to find the best places for nontraditional sports, such as rock climbing. Rock climbing is an excellent way to use all your muscles and challenge yourself to do things you never thought your body was capable of. You may not realize it, but there are several great places in OKC where you can go rock climbing, both indoors and outdoors. Here are a few of the best.

BLOCWORKS CLIMBING COMMUNITY

Austrian Climbing Championship 2019 by Sabrina Wendl is licensed with Unsplash License

Climbers of all ability levels are welcome at Blocworks Climbing Community. From beginners to experts, there are climbing courses for everyone. The staff will help you hone your climbing ability no matter what your skill level is, which makes it a great place for both first-time climbers and those who’ve been at it for years. It’s a bouldering gym, so all you need to get started are climbing shoes and chalk. Courses are color-coded, which means it’s easy to find a path that fits your needs.

Kids aged 13 and younger can enjoy 90 minutes of free climb time, but you might want to plan in advance, as time slots aren’t guaranteed if you just show up. After your first visit, you should consider becoming a member. Membership will open up special climbing times, the ability to bring a first-time guest with you each day, and discounts on events and gear.

THRESHOLD CLIMBING + FITNESS

At Threshold Climbing + Fitness, they believe everyone has what it takes to learn how to climb, no matter their age, size, or fitness level. This 20,000-square-foot climbing gym has both bouldering and ropes courses that’ll challenge you to push yourself and do amazing things that you never thought possible. Rock climbing will help you develop both mentally and physically, and at Threshold you can improve your skills or learn new ones. In addition to their rock climbing walls, they also have a dedicated fitness room, yoga space, Moon Board, and ValoClimb, which is an augmented reality climbing projector.

With teachers on hand, you can learn how to climb safely and reach new heights. Consider becoming a member to reap all the benefits that come with being a part of the Threshold family.

SUMMIT OKC SILOS

If you’re looking for a unique climbing experience, then head to Summit OKC Silos. In 1999, the gym was created from an existing grain silo. Now, it’s a 90-foot climbing gym that boasts tons of climbing spots for those of all skill levels. They offer top-rope and lead courses as well as bouldering and auto-belay areas. When the weather’s nice, you can even challenge yourself on the courses on the exterior of the grain silo. The building’s exterior also has a cool mural entitled “This Land” that gives the place character.

At Summit OKC Silos you’ll find yoga and fitness areas where you can tone your muscles and get in better shape. It also offers youth programs so that kids can start learning the climbing skills that will help them form healthy habits and get the exercise they need to build strength.

WICHITA MOUNTAINS

While indoor climbing places are great, especially when the weather’s not, you can’t beat getting out in nature and feeling real rocks under your feet when the temperatures allow for it. If you’d like to experience some exciting outdoor climbing near OKC, then check out some of the incredible spots found in the nearby Wichita Mountains. In fact, within the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, located in southwestern Oklahoma near Lawton, you’ll find several unbeatable spots to test your climbing abilities. These are some of the most popular, but don’t worry, they’re still considered hidden gems, for now:

MOUNT SCOTT

Mount Scott consists of both an upper and lower section, which both provide unique challenges. Some of the popular climbs here include the Atomic Knee Drop, which features a hand crack that splits the upper wall, the Foolish, which is great for those with intermediate climbing skills, and High Anxiety, which is a fairly high climb that might be best suited for those with a little more experience. Other options to seek out are Yee Haw, Mr. Clean, and Foolish Behavior.

CHARON’S GARDENS

Another great place for climbing in the Wichita Mountains is Charon’s Gardens. Here, you’ll find the Echo Dome, which can provide some shade in the scorching summer heat. The Worm Hole has good bolted protections and makes for an easy start. At the Elk Slabs, you can try your hand at Great Expectations, which could prove challenging, as it has some pretty interesting headwall and belay action. Then, of course, there’s the Lost Dome Region, where you’ll have to make your way through the trees to get to the wall that awaits.

NARROWS

The Narrows also has a lot of good climbing options that you’re going to want to try out. Dr. Coolhead, for example, is an interesting climb that gives you options. Some take it straight up, while others prefer to head for the ledge off to one side. If you truly want to prove yourself, then you can try out Aerial Anticipation, which some call the best sport route in all of Oklahoma. It has a pretty tough roof section, and you may have to belay yourself across a stream when the water’s high.

Well, that’s our list of the best rock climbing places in OKC. If you know of any other places to get out and climb in or around the city, we’d love to hear about them. Contact us so we can go check them out. If you need the right vehicle to ensure you can take all your climbing gear to the places you want to go, let the team at Seminole Chevrolet Buick GMC help you out. We have an exciting lineup of new cars, truck, and SUVs, so you’re sure to find something that’ll suit your needs.

The Chevrolet Colorado has been showing its age in recent years. However, the all-new 2023 model is set to change that. Now in its third generation, the Chevrolet Colorado has been completely redesigned for the 2023 model year. Not only does it boast a more stylish and contemporary look, but it’s also packing some serious power under the hood. At first glance, you might scoff at GM’s decision to put the same engine in all Colorado models. However, this turbocharged four-cylinder engine is no joke, and it even comes with three different power outputs.

Whether you’re looking for a workhorse to help you tackle your daily driving or an off-roading fun machine, the Chevrolet Colorado has something for you. With an impressive maximum towing capacity of 7,700 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,684 pounds, this beast is more than capable of handling your most demanding tasks. This review will take an in-depth look at the all-new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and show you what this midsize pickup truck offers on the work front. Let’s dive in.

Specially Tuned Engine Options

2023 Chevrolet Colorado

After receiving positive feedback on the Silverado 1500’s 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, GM decided to put this in the Colorado as standard. This is a move that makes a lot of sense, especially given the Colorado’s smaller size and weight. The 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is available in the following three different power outputs:

  • 2.7-liter Turbo: Standard in the Work Truck (WT) and LT models, this mill churns out 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is available as an option. When properly equipped, this engine can tow up to 3,500 pounds, making it ideal for occasional light towing jobs
  • 2.7-liter Turbo Plus: This upgraded mid-level engine is standard on the Z71 and Trail Boss trims. It produces 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, which gives it a significant lead over the standard engine. This model also comes standard with four-wheel drive and can tow up to 7,700 pounds without breaking a sweat when properly equipped
  • 2.7-liter Turbo High-Output: This top-of-the-line engine option is only available on the ZR2 trim. It produces an impressive 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This model comes standard with four-wheel drive and can tow up to 7,700 pounds. That’s the same towing capacity as the 2.7-liter Turbo Plus, but the extra torque is intended to make your off-roading experience more enjoyable

While these engines might look familiar, they’ve been specifically tuned for the Colorado. As such, they give you a lot of power and flexibility to choose the right Chevrolet Colorado for your needs.

What Can the Colorado Tow With These 3 Engine Options?

By now, you’re probably wondering what the Colorado can pull with each of these options. Here’s a quick breakdown.

  • 2.7-liter Turbo: With a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds, this engine is perfect for occasional light towing tasks. For example, you could use it to tow a jet ski, a small trailer, or a few dirt bikes for your next weekend getaway
  • 2.7-liter Turbo Plus and 2.7-liter Turbo High-Output: Both engines have a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. That means they can handle just about any job you throw at them, whether it’s hauling a trailer with an ATV or towing your boat to the lake for a weekend of fishing

As you can see, the Chevrolet Colorado is more than capable of handling your towing needs. No matter what you need to tow, a Colorado model is up to the task.

Performance and Towing Enhancing Technology

Not only does the Colorado have three powerful engine options, but it also comes equipped with several performance and towing-enhancing features that make towing easier and more fun. Here’s a look at some of the available features.

  • Tow/haul mode: This mode helps optimize your Colorado’s towing performance by automatically adjusting the transmission shift point. That means you don’t have to worry about shifting gears yourself. Throttle response is also optimized, so you can get up to speed more quickly when towing a heavy load
  • Hitch guidance: This available feature makes it easy to line up your Colorado with your trailer, so you can get hitched up and on the road in no time. Hitch View2 and Chevrolet’s Trailering App are new for 2022 and make it easy for you to line up the trailer and see what’s behind your vehicle when reversing
  • StabiliTrak with trailer sway control: This system helps keep your Colorado and trailer stable on the road, even in windy conditions. If the system detects that your trailer is starting to sway, it will automatically apply the brakes to help keep everything under control
  • Hill-start assist: This feature prevents your Colorado from rolling backward when you’re stopped on a hill. That means you won’t have to worry about your trailer getting away from you when you’re trying to start from a standstill or shifting gears
  • Trailer brake controller: This system gives you more control when braking, especially when you’re towing a heavy load. With the trailer brake controller, you can apply the brakes on your trailer independently of those on your Colorado. That way, you can avoid any unwanted braking while towing
  • Hill-descent control: This feature is perfect for when you’re going down a steep hill. It automatically applies the brakes and keeps your speed in check, so you don’t have to worry about losing control of your Colorado and trailer
  • Factory lift and ultra-wide stance: The Colorado’s factory lift and ultra-wide stance give it impressive off-road capability. The Trail Boss trim gets a 2-inch factory lift and the ZR2 comes with a 3-inch factory lift. That means you’ll have plenty of clearance for tackling tough terrain
  • Desert Boss package: The ZR2 trim boasts an optional Desert Boss package that includes many off-road enhancements. Some of the features include front and rear electronic locking differentials, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with 33-inch tires, Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers, and an off-road bumper with a brush guard
