What’s a Used Car Worth?

What’s a used car worth?
Whether you’re purchasing a used car or trading yours in this is one of the most common questions that comes to mind, and with all the available evaluation tools, who could blame you? Today we’ll look at the different tools available and the differences between them. We’ll also look at different “value” terms that are used in each. We’ll start with the terms used when purchasing a vehicle and what they mean.
Value Types When Buying a Car
Private Party Value:
This is the value you can expect to pay when purchasing a vehicle from an individual. This person may be a coworker, neighbor, or just someone that listed a vehicle for sale. This value is generally less than purchasing a vehicle from a dealer, but there are things to consider when making a private party purchase. An individual is not likely to have a vehicle inspected before selling it, not likely to change fluids, is not going to assist in securing financing, and does not provide the ease of title transfer a dealer will. So, while you may save some money on the sales price of the vehicle, you may incur added expense and increase the amount of time and effort completing the purchase. An individual can do less in preparing a vehicle for sale and selling it, because they don’t have to worry about receiving bad reviews or surveys a dealer has to.
Dealer Retail Value:
This is the amount you can expect to pay when purchasing a vehicle from a dealer. Although it may have a higher price tag than a private party, you can usually buy with more confidence knowing the vehicle has gone through inspection, some reconditioning, usually has a free Carfax available to you, and has an ease of securing finance.
Certified Preowned (CPO) Value:
This is the amount you can expect to pay for a Certified Preowned vehicle. A CPO vehicle is looked at as a premium preowned car. They are subject to a more stringent inspection process and are usually still under Manufacturer Warranty. Many CPO vehicles will qualify for lower interest rates than your usual used car, and also, in many cases, come with a manufacturer-backed extended warranty.
When purchasing a used vehicle, it is always a good idea to check listings for similar vehicles to compare pricing. Be sure you are looking at the same vehicle year, make, model, and trim level to get the most accurate read on what fair pricing would be.
When looking at trade in value for your vehicle, you have the below evaluation tools that can assist in estimating that value.
Value Types When Trading a Car
Kelley Blue Book
Kelley Blue Book, or KBB, has more than a million visits monthly, and the majority of those visitors are looking for trade-in values on their vehicle. KBB has been a trusted source of this information for over 90 years, and receives data from Dealers, Manufacturers, and Private Party sells that go into KBB’s algorithm or determining used car values. They also consider market trends, time of year, and location when determining the value you see after entering your vehicle’s information.
Edmunds
Edmunds.com is another trusted evaluation tool, just like Kelley Blue Book. Edmunds receives industry information just like KBB but offers an additional category for rating your vehicle’s condition that KBB does not. This allows you to be more accurate in listing vehicle condition and in turn, makes the value you receive more accurate. Many industry experts agree that Edmunds is the most accurate when giving vehicle values.
JD Powers (NADA)
One of the oldest vehicle value guides out there. JD Powers, formerly known as NADA, was originally created for franchise auto dealers, but individuals were given access to JD Powers free retail evaluation guide. JD Powers values are usually higher than KBB or Edmunds because JD Powers automatically assumes “clean” condition on vehicles when valuing them. You should keep this in mind and know the value you see here will probably need to be adjusted for the condition of your vehicle.
While these are all good tools for estimating a vehicle’s value, there are a few issues to keep in mind when using them.
- Lag Time: It takes time for pricing data and other information to come in and be analyzed by these tools. Therefore, the value information you receive may not be up-to-date based on trending market and economic conditions.
- Consumer Bias: Often times people over value or overestimate the condition of their vehicle. Cars that we have had for some time have sentimental value to us, and there are things we overlook condition wise because we have seen them every day for however long. It becomes hard to objectively judge your car, so the best thing to try and do is look at it as if you were buying it and what you would ask about it to the person you were buying it from.
- Dealers Don’t Use These Tools: While dealers are knowledgeable of what KBB, Edmunds, and JD Powers are showing consumers about car values, they don’t necessarily use them. Dealers use a tool that aggregates all this information along with auction and wholesale values on similar vehicles within a local or even national radius. Your local dealer will know more up-to-date information about the current value of a vehicle than any tool available that you can use.
In conclusion, all the available online evaluation tools are great for getting an idea of what a used car’s value is. Don’t just look at the highest or lowest number you can find, be sure to check all the tools and take an average of what you see and that will probably be the best estimate you can get, and if you are looking at a trade in value be sure to be as honest as you can regarding condition to avoid disappointment when trading your vehicle in. At the end of the day, anything’s value is what someone is willing to pay for it, and no tool will ever be able to tell you that.
Chevy Safety Assist

When you’re driven by safety like Chevrolet is you make sure your vehicle is packed with features to keep yourself and your family or passengers as safe as possible. That is why Chevrolet has made Chevy Safety Assist standard on all it’s 2024 vehicles (except for the Camaro, which is on its last ride). Chevy Safety Assist consist of six features that include:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Following Distance Indicator
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Intellibeam
This bundle of safety features work together to provide you the assistance a driver needs to drive more confidently every time you get behind the wheel. Let’s look at what each of these features does to deliver a a safer driving experience.
Automatic Emergency Braking
Automatic Emergency Braking works hand-in-hand with the Front Collision Alert to help avoid accidents or reduce the severity of a front-end collision if it occurs. Camera technology is used to detect a vehicle your following, even at highway speeds, and to automatically apply hard emergency braking or enhance the driver’s hard braking when it senses an accident could occur.
Forward Collision Alert
Forward Collision Alert can warn you if it detects a potential front-end collision with a vehicle that you are following so you can take action, and the Automatic Emergency Braking can assist you in slowing down or stopping. It will also provide you with a notification if you’re following a vehicle too closely so you can slow down before having to brake quickly.
Front Pedestrian Braking
Front Pedestrian Braking can help you avoid collisions with or reduce the severity of a collision with a pedestrian. The system works at speeds under 50 mph during daytime, but works with limited performance during nighttime or low visibility conditions such as rain or fog.
Following Distance Indicator
The Following Distance Indicator measures the gap time between you and the vehicle in front of you, if it is detected. This feature can help you determine if your following too closely and may need to slow down.
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning will help keep you in your lane if you accidently drift out of detected lane lines. It does this by using a gently brief steering wheel turn to alert you. The vehicle will alert you if you are using your turn signal or it detects purposeful steering. You can also choose to receive additional Lane Departure alerts.
Intellibeam
When you are traveling over 25mph Intellibeam will automatically turn your highbeams on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions
Now you can drive with confidence knowing that you have the entire Chevy Safety Assist system working together to increase the safety of everyone in your Chevrolet vehicle. For added security there are additional options such as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. And if you’re a parent you can rest assured your teenage drivers are in good hands with Chevy’s Teen Driver Technology.

Certified Pre-owned (CPO) -vs- Used Cars

What’s the difference: Certified Pre-owned (CPO) -vs- Used Cars
With so many companies and dealers using words like Certified Pre-owned, Certified Used and (Insert Dealer Name Here) Certified Used Car it can get confusing as to what each means and are you getting what you know as a Certified Pre-owned Car. If you’ve read the benefits of buying a Certified Pre-owned Car, also known as a CPO, then you want to be sure that is what you are buying and not a used car someone is just putting a title on to confuse buyers. Here is a quick breakdown of what to look for so you can be confident in the vehicle you are purchasing.
- What is a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle?
- How does a used Car become a Certified Preowned?
- What is included in a GM Certified Pre-owned Warranty?
- Advantages of a GM Certified Pre-owned:
What is a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle(CPO)?
Everything starts with the manufacturer, so the first indication that a vehicle you are looking at is actually a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle is that what ever Make (Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Ford, etc.) that vehicle is can only be sold by the same manufacturer dealership. In our case, Seminole Chevrolet GMC, we can only Certify GM vehicles. We can sell any make of used car, but only a GM product can be Certified here. So if you are looking at a Dodge at a Toyota store and they are using the word certified in talking about it, then you can be sure that it is not actually a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle but just a name they are giving to it. Certified Pre-owned Vehicles are backed by the Manufacturer and have to meet certain manufacturer requirements to receive that title.
How does a Used Car become a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle(CPO)?
We can’t just take any GM used car and say that it is a GM Certified Pre-owned, the car has to meet certain requirements.
- Less than 6 model years old and less than 75,000 miles
- Has a clean vehicle title.
- The vehicle passed our 172-point vehicle inspection.
- Any safety recalls have been completed.
If you are looking at a different Certified Pre-owned make be sure to check that makes year and mileage requirements because they will vary. All Certified Programs to my knowledge will have the same requirements for a clean title. This means that the vehicle you are purchasing can not have a salvaged or rebuilt title and the vehicle can also not have been a manufacturer buyback for any reason. The inspection process will also differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, but you can be sure that the inspection process for any Make will be thourough in order for that vehicle to be Certified. Once the vehicle makes it through Certification the Manufacturer will back it with a Certified Pre-owned Warranty.
What’s included in a Certified Pre-owned Warranty?
As with everything else we’re talking about here you always want to check with the manufacturer of the vehicle you are looking to purchase since the CPO program for ever manufacturer varies. For a GM Certified Pre-owned vehicle you have the following Certified Pre-owned Warranty coverages:
- 12-Month/12,000 Mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty
- 6-Year/100,000 Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty
The12 Month/12,000 mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty is in addition to any original factory bumper-to-bumper warranty that the vehicle may have remaining at the time of purchase. Meaning that if the GM vehicle you are purchasing has 1 year or 10,000 miles remaining, the CPO Bumper-to-Bumper will start when that year is up or you drive another 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The 6-Year/100,000 Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty is from the original in service date of the GM vehicle you are purchasing. So, if the vehicle is 4 years old with 60,000 miles on it, then you would have 2-years and 40,000 miles left on the CPO Powertrain limited Warranty. Of course in the case of both warranties you can purchase extended coverages at a lower price than on a typical used car because there is some CPO Warranty coverage that exist.
Additional Benefits of Buying a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle:
Another benefit of buying a CPO vehicle is reliability. While a CPO is not quite as reliable as a New vehicle, it should be no surprise that a CPO vehicle is more reliable than its used vehicle counterpart. With the rigorous inspection process that goes into a GM Certified Pre-owned vehicle they should be more reliable. A study by Consumer Reports found that a CPO vehicle has 11% more problems over the lifetime of the car than a vehicle bought Brand New, but a used vehicle as 31% more problems than the same New Vehicle. Another reason you want to be sure your buying an actual Certified Pre-owned Vehicle if that is what you are looking for.
GM also offers these additional benefits to its customers purchasing a GM Certified Pre-owned Vehicle:
- Scheduled Maintenance Program
- Roadside Assistance
- Courtesy Transportation
- Limited trial of Onstar Safety and Security Plan and Connected Services
- 3-Month Sirius XM trial subscription
- 3-Day/150 Mile Exchange Policy
The scheduled maintenance program includes 2 maintenance visits done within 2 years and 24,000 miles and can be performed at any GM Dealer. The Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation is good for the duration of the Powertrain limited warranty, and the roadside assistance is provided by Allstate. Eligible vehicles receive 1-month of Premium Plan coverage, inclusive of the Onstar Safety & Security Plan and the Connected Vehicle Plan.
A GM Certified Pre-owned Vehicle (CPO) provides the confidence that comes with knowing your vehicle is covered by a long list of great benefits you won’t get with a basic used car, truck, or SUV. Now you can dream about the journey ahead, instead of worrying about what’s coming down the road. Drive with peace of mind in your new GM Certified Pre-owned vehicle.
2024 GMC Yukon Overview

For a more complete trim level options visit our 2024 GMC Yukon configuration page.
2024 GMC YUKON: PERFORMANCE
Similar to the last-generation Yukon, two V-8 engines are offered: a 355-hp 5.3-liter and a 420-hp 6.2-liter. In addition to those gas engines, GMC also offers a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six that makes a whopping 460 pound-feet of torque and is the choice for buyers who intend to tow heavy items. All models come with a 10-speed automatic transmission operated by buttons on the dashboard and offer either rear- or all-wheel drive. An off-road-oriented AT4 model is also available and features a two-speed transfer case, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and an optional air suspension capable of offering up to two more inches of ground clearance.
The GMC Yukon’s maximum towing capacity is 8400 pounds, but that requires a rear-wheel-drive model with the 5.3-liter V-8. The 6.2-liter Yukon’s maximum trailer rating is 8300 pounds, with the Duramax diesel not far behind at 8200 pounds. Adding four-wheel drive drops these ratings by 200 pounds across the board.
2024 GMC YUKON: INTERIOR DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
Available in a variety of flavors—from base SLE spec to luxurious Denali Ultimate—the Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL promise seating for up to eight passengers, although ordering the popular second-row captain’s chairs will lower the total seating capacity to seven. Denali models offer a unique interior design with a wood-trimmed dashboard and hand-stitched leather upholstery. A novel power-sliding center console is available in SLT and AT4 models (it’s standard on the Denali) and allows the driver to motor the center console back and forth over a 10-inch track to make room for bulkier first-row cargo such as a purse or backpack and stash other smaller items out of sight in hidden cubbies. Cargo capacity is generous, especially in the larger XL model, which offers a whopping 145 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with all of its seats stowed. That’s more than its cross-town rival, the Ford Expedition Max (which has 122 cubic feet behind its front row of seats). The standard-length Yukon provided enough space for six carry-on cases behind its third-row seats. With the third and second rows stowed, we fit 35.
2024 GMC YUKON: SAFETY AND DRIVER-ASSISTIVE FEATURES
A host of driver-assistance features are offered, but GMC only offers basic tech as standard, forcing buyers to pay extra for more advanced ones. For more information about the Yukon’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning
- Available lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode

2024 Chevy Chevelle Specs & Features
When discussing the titans of the muscle car era, it’s hard to overlook the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport (SS). Instantly recognizable for its iconic quad headlights, rectangular grille, and bold nose-to-tail stripes, the Chevelle SS is a timeless classic that continues to captivate car enthusiasts worldwide. This iconic car changed how we look at motorized transportation but was discontinued 45 years ago. Now, thanks to Trans Am Worldwide, the Chevrolet Chevelle is making a huge comeback in 2024 as the 70/SS.
Renderings of the 70/SS are already trending, with modern twists, updated drivetrains, and state-of-the-art suspension. It’s easy to get excited about the possibilities of such an iconic car returnin
g to the market, and the team at Seminole Chevrolet GMC can’t wait to see what Trans Am Worldwide has in store for us. Here’s your first look at what this legendary muscle car will look like and the features it will offer when it officially hits dealerships sometime in 2024.
Engine, Power, and Performance

If you resurrect a muscle car-era demon, you’d better make sure it has the power to go with its looks. In that respect, Trans Am Worldwide will definitely come through with flying colors, given its decades of experience building muscle cars. Although exact details of the 2024 Chevrolet Chevelle’s power source are still unknown, what’s clear is that there will be three options available: a base 450-horsepower LT1 engine, a 396 cubic-inch LT engine with 900 horsepower, and a top-of-the-line twin-turbo 454 cubic-inch LS6/X with a powerful 1,500 horsepower output.
All these engines will be mated to either manual or automatic transmissions and will feature rear-wheel drive, along with the option of suspension upgrades for improved performance. Make no mistake, Trans Am Worldwide is serious about bringing its latest model up to the highest performance standards. It’s equipped the new model with the latest technology and advanced techniques to ensure it’ll deliver its promised potential. With the muscle-car look plus a drivetrain of appropriately impressive power, this Chevelle is unlikely to disappoint.
Exterior Styling
With the additional power comes an exterior makeover — Trans Am Worldwide has also given the Chevelle a Camaro-inspired makeover that makes it look like something out of the past while maintaining its modern edge. Its exterior has been completely reshaped with a stretched rear side, new quarter panels, deck lids, and bumper.
Not a single element in the new model is reminiscent of an old-fashioned muscle car vibe. A choice of eight heritage colors, as well as 10 modern metallic and pearl finishes, will ensure each car looks its best. If you’re seeking a coupe look, a removable hardtop will be available.
The sixth generation is utterly entwined with modern terms and lingo. Its large hood and rectangular-shaped taillights will make the muscle car’s appearance more prominent, showing off its best piece of art status within the automotive industry. With its modern, twisted, and stylish vibe, the 2024 Chevelle is up for viewing online, allowing the brand to generate awareness for its reshaped model.
Interior Styling
The interior styling will be equally impressive, with completely updated, retro-inspired carpeting and seating. It’ll offer a luxurious interior with a refined and comfortable seating experience to match its updated exterior. The cabin has been designed to fit four people comfortably, but the rear seating area may lack enough legroom for some. A luxurious two-tone dashboard and wood and leather trim accents will add to the experience. The Hurst cue ball shift knob and 70/SS badging will further give a nod to the car’s heritage.
Other notable features of the Chevelle 70/SS’s interior should include cup holders at the door side and front armrest, four air-conditioning vents, a multimedia touch-screen display on the dashboard, and a driver information display. Even without much information about the exact specs of this fresh ride, it’s clear that the Chevelle will be a worthy choice in terms of its interior style and comfort.
Technology
Technology will play a large role in the upcoming Chevelle model, representing a significant departure from previous iterations. Rumors and speculation point to a new level of sophistication for the dashboard and engine compartment. Chevrolet has always managed to keep its core values and traditions while evolving, and this Chevelle will be no different.
American motorists can look forward to modern touches such as an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, advanced driver assistance systems, an advanced keyless entry system, and a tribute to the rich heritage of Chevrolet. The future looks bright for the Chevelle, and we can’t wait to see what creature comforts and tech goodies the new model brings.
Price and Release Date
The 2024 Chevrolet Chevelle is said to have taken seven years to design, and while the company has yet to release its all-trims pricing plan, the company had said that it will start with a minimum price of $150,000. This cost is subject to increase depending on the options and features you desire.
The new Chevrolet Chevelle has been unveiled; however, the model year is yet to be revealed by Chevrolet. Instead, the American company Trans AM Worldwide has released images and specifications. Although we can’t say for certain, we could get our hands on a Chevelle sooner than we thought.
There are many details still to be revealed about the sixth-generation Chevrolet Chevelle, but one thing’s for sure: this iconic American muscle car promises to bring a whole new level of power, style, and sophistication to the? market. It’ll be a worthy addition to anyone’s garage and an impressive piece of muscle car history. Stay tuned as we await its official release date and further details. We’re sure this ride will be the talk of the town once it hits the streets.
Seminole Chevrolet GMC in Oklahoma is your one-stop shop for those looking to own a piece of the Chevelle legacy. We’ll be among the first dealerships to get the new 2024 Chevelle in stock, so keep an eye on our website or give us a call to make sure you don’t miss out. Will the 2024 GMC Acadia Be Redesigned?
Industry insiders have confirmed that production runs on the next generation of GMC’s popular Acadia SUV will begin soon. The Acadia has been a strong performer in the midsize SUV market for GMC over the years, standing out in the crowded segment with its spacious, comfortable, and tech-forward features. So how do you make a great SUV even better? GMC hasn’t revealed all its secrets, but what we do know, we’re sharing with you today.
When Will Production on the New GMC Acadia Begin?

2024 GMC Acadia
Our experts at Seminole Chevrolet GMC agree that the new generation of the Acadia will start production runs in January 2024. This start date tells us two things. First, it coincides with the start of the Chevrolet Traverse’s new generation in the fall of 2023. Of course, GM owns Chevrolet and GMC, and the Traverse and Acadia share platforms.
So, it stands to reason that a new generation of the Acadia is imminent. GM also owns Buick, which industry insiders believe will start its next generation of Enclave SUVs sharing that platform toward the end of 2024, likely right after the Acadia’s first production run. GM builds all three vehicles from its plant in Lansing, Michigan.
What’s New With the 2024 GMC Acadia?
We don’t have all the answers here, but we do know a few things. First, GMC plans on up-sizing the Acadia with longer, wider, and taller dimensions. Building a larger SUV can mean only one thing. Acadia will come as a full-size three-row SUV.
History buffs will recall that the first generation of Acadia SUVs were full-size participants with three rows before downsizing to the midsize segment for the second generation. The move to full-size also coincides with the introduction of the three-row Traverse, which many believe offers GM shared efficiencies in production costs.
In addition to growing in size, GMC plans on re-styling the exterior. We expect a bold new look expressed with an aggressive stance and modern touches that blend with signature style cues, such as the C-shaped LED headlights.
We also anticipate the Acadia to come with GM’s latest version of Super Cruise, a semi-autonomous driving system that works on over 200,000 miles of roads in North America. The new Super Cruise system can keep you centered in your lane as the road curves and now detects optimal lane-changing opportunities. It’ll even make the lane change automatically while following signaling protocols.

GMC hasn’t announced trim levels yet, but we believe the lineup of SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali models will remain. We also expect similar Elevation and Black Diamond packages to enhance these models.
Current Acadia models seat six or seven depending on whether there are captain’s chairs or a bench seat in the second row. We anticipate the larger dimensions will offer seating for seven or eight people and make the third row more comfortable for adults.
The base model SLE offers premium cloth seats, and the SLE upgrades to leather-appointed seats with heating. In addition, you can add the Elevation package to the SLE and SLT trims. We don’t anticipate any significant shakeups in these models or the Elevation package, which recently adds exterior features, including 20-inch wheels and signature colors.
Presently, GMC offers a Denali Ultimate and a Black Diamond package for Denali trims only. The Denali Ultimate package includes adaptive cruise control, an HD surround-vision camera system, enhanced automatic emergency braking, a rear camera mirror, a rear camera with a washer, a dual-panel power sunroof, a trailering package, and adaptive ride control (in all-wheel-drive models only). In addition, there’s a good chance a head-up display will form part of this package.
We believe the popular Black Diamond package will return as well. It gives you all the features of the Ultimate package plus 20-inch aluminum painted wheels with an After Midnight finish and the Ebony Twilight Metallic exterior paint.
2024 GMC Acadia Powertrain Options
Under the hood, GMC insiders say three engines are in play, and we could see them all. First, the current base-model 2-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine is a logical starting point for new models. However, this engine produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which won’t provide thrills and chills driving but helps make the Acadia a more affordable full-size option.
Next up is the existing 3.6-liter V-6 power plant. This engine produces 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque, unlocking up to 4,000 lbs of towing capacity. Again, that number much better reflects what full-size SUV drivers expect.
However, some believe that GM’s 2.7-liter inline turbocharged four-cylinder could be an option. This engine made its debut in the GMC Sierra in 2019. The original engine puts out 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. Later, GM released a high-output version of this engine capable of 430 lb-ft of torque. That figure would boost Acadia’s towing capacity well north of 5,000 lbs and has SUV drivers around Seminole excited by the possibilities.
GMC will likely keep the front-wheel-drive platform as the standard and offer all-wheel drive as an option. Depending on the engine, you could see a nine or ten-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
2024 GMC Acadia Driver-Assist Technology
Now considered a must-have for buyers, GMC’s Pro Safety Plus suite of driver-assist systems should continue as a standard feature. This suite includes lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, rear park assist, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, and Intellibeam automatic high beams. In addition, there’s a good chance that the optional lane change alert with side blind-zone alert and the rear cross-traffic alert systems will come standard in the next generation.
These systems use advanced optical sensors and radar to monitor your Acadia’s surroundings and warn you of potential hazards. In certain situations, these systems engage emergency braking and steering support to help you avoid a possible crash.

What Apps Are Available on Chevrolet MyLink?
There are many benefits to getting a new Chevrolet vehicle, from its powerful performance to its comfortable interiors. However, one of the biggest benefits is the vast amount of multimedia options available thanks to the Chevrolet MyLink system. Our team at Seminole Chevrolet GMC wants to share the highlights of this system, along with some of the best apps you can get through it to improve your driving experience.
What’s Chevrolet MyLink?

Chevrolet MyLink is the touch-screen infotainment system above your Chevy vehicle’s radio. Through this infotainment system, you can access a range of features, such as playing your favorite media or getting turn-by-turn navigation. One of the great benefits of the Chevrolet MyLink system is that you can load different apps into it, expanding its capabilities to suit your personal preferences. Through the Chevrolet MyLink, you can customize your driving experience to make it more enjoyable and safer.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Thanks to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integrations, you can easily connect your smartphone to the Chevrolet MyLink system. When you do so, you can take advantage of many of the apps already on your phone so that you don’t have to download them directly to the Chevrolet MyLink system. For example, once you connect your phone, you’ll be able to use voice commands to send text messages, load the current audiobook you’re listening to, or stream from your preferred music app.
OnStar
In addition to using the apps on your smartphone, you can also download apps directly to the Chevrolet MyLink system. One of the most popular ones on the Chevrolet MyLink system is OnStar. OnStar provides many services, including roadside service, alerting emergency services if you get into an accident, and the ability to locate your vehicle through your mobile phone. OnStar can also provide vehicle diagnostics if you’re experiencing a problem while driving and help you find the nearest repair station. It’s an excellent feature to have, regardless of whether you’re driving around town or out on a road trip.
Pandora Internet Radio
Pandora is an online radio streaming service. However, unlike traditional radio stations, Pandora creates unique stations based on your interests. All you have to do is tell Pandora your favorite artists, and it’ll create a station that plays songs by that artist and similar ones. You can even make multiple radio stations for all your different music tastes. If you like to discover new music and like to have the radio on while you drive, the Pandora music app on the Chevrolet MyLink is an excellent addition to your vehicle.
Stitcher
Podcasts are another popular form of entertainment while driving. There are thousands of free podcasts out there that cover all sorts of interests. You can use several apps to play podcasts through your vehicle, one of which is Stitcher. The Stitcher app comes standard on the Chevrolet MyLink system, meaning it’s ready to go as soon as you get your car. You can search for your favorite podcasts or have Stitcher recommend new ones. With over 100,000 podcasts and radio shows to pick from, you’ll have a practically unlimited amount of entertainment while you drive.
SiriusXM Satellite Radio
SiriusXM is another popular radio streaming service. SiriusXM provides that old-school radio feel but with many more stations to choose from. There are stations dedicated to practically every decade and others dedicated to specific famous artists. If you’re a fan of talk radio, there are also stations for news, sports, and much more. You’ll need a subscription to their service to use the SiriusXM app in your Chevrolet MyLink. Free trials are often available to see if you like the service before committing to it.
Teen Driver
The Chevrolet MyLink system offers more than just media apps. There’s also the ability to turn on the Teen Driver mode, which helps protect your teenage children as they’re driving. Some features of the Teen Driver mode include speed warnings, preventing the disabling of certain safety features, and restricting the music volume to certain levels. It’s a fantastic way to encourage safe driving habits, especially when you’re not in the vehicle with them. Give yourself some peace of mind the next time your teenager borrows your vehicle by turning on the Teen Driver feature in the Chevrolet MyLink system.
Getting Started With Chevrolet MyLink
Using the Chevrolet MyLink system in your vehicle is easy to do. One reason for this is that it comes pre-installed with every compatible Chevrolet vehicle so that you don’t have to do anything yourself. After that, it’s just a matter of connecting your phone to the system or downloading the new apps you want.
To connect your phone, you’ll first want to make sure that you have Bluetooth enabled on your device. After that, press the “Phone” icon within the Chevrolet MyLink screen, then select the “Pair Device” option. Next, navigate to the Bluetooth menu on your phone and look for a list of available Bluetooth devices. You should see an option called “Chevrolet MyLink.” Select this device, then enter the four-digit PIN displayed on your smartphone into the MyLink system. Press the “Yes” button on the MyLink screen, and that’s it. You’re all set.
To download new apps to the Chevrolet MyLink system, you can visit the Chevrolet MyLink App Store. You can access this by selecting the “Shop” icon in your MyLink display. You’ll then see hundreds of apps that you can download. Simply select the one you want, and the download process will begin.

GMC revamped the Canyon Pickup for the 2023 model year, making it bigger, better, and more capable than ever. This new generation of Canyon trucks offers impressive style, a refined cabin, and the latest must-have tech. And it can tow quite a bit too. Because 2023 marks the first model year of a new Canyon generation, we asked our Seminole Chevrolet GMC pickup truck experts to review the different models, describe their towing capacities, and discuss some of their other desirable features.
2023 GMC Canyon Trim Levels, Pricing, and Towing Capacity

2023 GMC Canyon
GMC makes the Canyon in four trim levels. Returning, you have the Elevation, AT4, and Denali trims, and then there’s the all-new AT4X model that’s outfitted for off-road adventuring. Here’s a look at the trim levels, pricing, and towing capacity by model:
| 2023 GMC Canyon Trim | 2023 GMC Canyon MSRP | GMC Canyon Towing Capacity |
| 2023 GMC Canyon Elevation | $36,900 | 3,500-7,700 pounds |
| 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 | $43,900 | 3,500-7,700 pounds |
| 2023 GMC Canyon Denali | $51,000 | 3,500-7,700 pounds |
| 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X | $55,500 | 3,500-6,000 pounds |
As you can see, you can achieve a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds on most models, provided the Pro Trailer package is installed. However, the AT4X has more durable components and off-road equipment that add weight to the truck. As a result, the towing capacity is lower in this model.
What’s New for the 2023 GMC Canyon?
We’ll get to the AT4X in a minute, but first, let’s look at some of the most attractive new features you’ll find on the 2023 Canyon models. GMC widened the Canyon’s track and gave it a bold new front fascia highlighted by an aggressive grille framed by signature C-shaped LED headlights. Fenders flare over off-road wheels and tires, while the chiseled sides add to the Canyon’s athletic profile. You also get an off-road suspension with a 2-inch factory lift. Even the tailgate has been upgraded with a new watertight and lockable storage compartment.
2023 GMC Canyon Elevation Trim
Keyless entry lets you into your Canyon and push-button start technology gets the engine running with minimal effort. Elevation models come with premium cloth seats in several colors and an available upgrade to the CoreTec synthetic upholstery. In addition, you get a six-way manually adjusting driver’s seat and a four-way manual front passenger seat.
The technology in the Elevation includes an 11.3-inch color touch screen with Google Built-In, Wireless Apple CarPlay, Wireless Android Auto, and Bluetooth technology pre-installed. These systems enable you to synch your smartphone and access your favorite apps, make calls, stream playlists, and more using intuitive voice commands. In addition, every Canyon model can turn into a Wi-Fi hotspot that connects several devices within 50 feet. You also get a free trial subscription to OnStar, unlocking even more remote connectivity.
The Canyon features an 8-inch color driver information display that you can configure to show important information. You also get a six-speaker audio system and a free trial of SiriusXM satellite radio. A 12-volt power outlet is standard, and you can add a 120-volt outlet as an option. Plus, you get two USB charge and data ports in the front and a third charge-only port in the back seat.
2023 GMC Canyon AT4 Trim
Not to be confused with the AT4X, the AT4 does have some similarities. In addition to coming with the same features as the Elevation, you get some upgrades. Previously optional features such as a 120-volt outlet, remote start, and a dual-zone climate control system have become standard. You also get an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat plus the option for a six-way power front passenger seat. You have your choice of premium cloth or CoreTec upholstery.
Other optional equipment includes ventilated front seats, a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, and a heated steering wheel.
2023 GMC Canyon Denali Trim
The Canyon’s premium trim offers the luxury features that elevate your driving experience, such as quilted leather upholstery with signature Denali stitching. Heated and ventilated front seats come standard, and the rear outboard seats are heated too. The front passenger seat upgrades to a six-way power-adjusting seat, while the driver’s seat has two memory positions to recall the seat, steering wheel, and outside mirrors to your presets.
A larger 11-inch driver information cluster enables more customizable information to be displayed simultaneously. In addition, GMC adds a Bose seven-speaker audio system, the HD Surround Vision system, GMC’s Safety Alert Seat, a wireless charging pad, and a heated steering wheel as standard equipment.
2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Trim
GMC engineered the Canyon AT4X trim to handle serious off-road excursions, adding equipment such as a full-locking driver-selectable front differential unit that locks both front wheels to turn in unison for additional traction. You get a beefier 220-amp alternator to handle the other systems and a 3-inch factory lift. Red front recovery hooks come standard, and you can add a winch kit, steel drive shaft, and skid plates for more protection and versatility. Beadlock-capable wheels with optional 33-inch all-terrain tires add impressive off-road performance.
2023 GMC Canyon Powertrain
Under the hood, every Canyon has a revised 2.7-liter high-output turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain generates 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The Elevation comes standard with front-wheel drive and the option for four-wheel drive. In addition, the AT4, Denali, and AT4X trims come standard with four-wheel drive.
2023 GMC Canyon Driver-Assist Technology
Every GMC Canyon comes with GMC’s Canyon Pro Safety package — a suite of driver-assist systems designed to elevate your drive and keep you safe. This includes automatic emergency braking, IntelliBeam automatic headlights, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, front pedestrian and bicycling braking, and lane-keep assist with lane departure warning.
An optional Pro Safety Plus package adds rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-zone steering assist system. In addition, GMC incorporates advanced camera technology and radar to monitor your Canyon’s surroundings. When a system detects a potential hazard, it sends visual, audio, and haptic alerts so you can take corrective action.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Safety Features
Whether you’re driving off-road for a family camping trip or making a quick stop at the grocery store, your safety is a top priority. The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse has your back, front, and sides, offering an assortment of safety features that keeps you in tune with your surroundings from the moment you pull off to when you arrive at your destination. The SUV’s standard features are technology at its finest, increasing your visibility on the road and helping you to avoid collisions. You can also consider the upper-level configurations to experience additional safety functions that ensure you drive with confidence.
STANDARD 2023 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE SAFETY FEATURES

2023 Chevrolet Traverse
Once the engine of the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse comes on, the SUV will be ready to protect you and all of your passengers for your entire commute. Check out the LS model, which is the first trim level, for its standard safety features that can enhance the way you cruise down the highway and maneuver into your driveway. When you’re preparing to reverse, you can consult the rearview camera to see what’s behind you before you take your foot off the brake. The camera can be also useful if you’re backing out of a space in a crowded parking lot.
On a busy street, you can rely on the sensors on the front of the SUV to monitor the amount of space between you and the vehicle traveling ahead of you. If you’re coming too close, the forward collision warning will alert you so you have time to slow your speed or switch to another lane. This feature works with forward automatic emergency braking, which stops the vehicle on your behalf. Another basic component that the Traverse provides is pedestrian detection. When you’re driving through a neighborhood, for example, the sensors alert you when a person is in your path.
When you’re driving on the interstate, it’s important to remain in the center of your lane to prevent an accident with the vehicles traveling beside you. That’s why the Chevrolet Traverse comes with a lane-departure warning, a feature that chimes when the tires on the SUV stray from the parameters of the lane. You can also rely on lane-keep assist, which briefly takes over the steering wheel to correct the position of the SUV. Make sure you consult the following distance indicator to stay informed about how much time it takes to reach the car in front of you.
Regardless of the time of day you’re on the road or Mother Nature’s mood, the Traverse delivers a safe driving experience. Its high-beam headlights switch on automatically when the sun goes down or the rainstorm starts, making sure you can navigate dark and slick highways with ease. The SUV also boasts exterior mirrors that heat up, melting away fog or rain from the reflection so you can always see what’s behind you. In the event of an accident, the air bags can protect you and your travel companions, mounting from the front and passenger sides, and shielding your head.
The Chevrolet Traverse is a family car for a reason. As you collect belongings to exit the vehicle, the rear occupant alert will chime to remind you about the tiny humans or four-legged friends that are traveling with you. Plus, you can consider taking advantage of the teen driver features. When your young loved ones ask to borrow the SUV, you can hand them a unique key fob that limits how fast they can drive and how loud they can play music inside the vehicle. They also won’t be able to pull off until each passenger is wearing their seatbelt.
AVAILABLE 2023 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE SAFETY FEATURES
The higher trim levels of the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse include the LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country, all of which include upgrades to technology features that emphasize safety and convenience. Starting with the LT Cloth model, you have access to lane change alert with side blind zone alert, two collaborative functions that monitor what’s in your blind spot to help you determine when it’s safe to switch lanes. You can also consider the adaptive cruise control, available on the RS and upper-level configurations, to set a comfortable speed on the interstate that adjusts based on the traffic.
Although the Traverse is a large vehicle, you’ll have no trouble steering backward into a parking space. The RS, Premier, and High Country trims are equipped with a parking camera system that shows what’s in the vicinity of the SUV in real-time. These configurations also include rear pedestrian detection, an advanced feature that tells you when someone is walking behind the vehicle. You can capitalize on the rear cross-traffic alert, a standard component of the second trim level and higher, which informs you if there’s another car approaching as you prepare to reverse into the street.
While the forward collision warning is a standard feature in the Traverse, the upper-level trims offer enhanced automatic emergency braking, which applies the brakes to stop the SUV before an accident occurs. The component can also lessen the severity of an accident, further protecting you and your passengers from harm. To give you peace of mind when you’re behind the wheel, consider choosing the Premier or High Country configurations to gain access to the safety alert seat feature. The driver’s seat will vibrate if you’re at risk of a collision, giving you a chance to take corrective actions.
