Oklahoma City welcomes 7.5 million tourists every year. Many of these travelers visit The Cinderella City for its diverse attractions. If you’re one of them or want to play tourist close to home, check out these awesome Oklahoma City attractions.

Frontier City

It sounds like a historical reenactment site, but Frontier City is actually Oklahoma City’s Wild West-themed amusement park. Operated by Six Flags, it features roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, and many other rides ranging from tame to terrifying. You can cool off during summer at Hurricane Harbor, the on-site water park.

Location: 11501 N. I-35 Service Road.
Hours: Vary throughout the year. Check the online calendar before your visit for current times.
Cost: Single-day tickets start at $39.99. Gold, platinum, and diamond passes are also available.

SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology

The Museum of Osteology, America’s only skeleton museum, maybe one of Oklahoma City’s quirkiest attractions. It features the skeletons of hundreds of animals, from large apes and elephants to smaller creatures such as snakes and penguins. Each one is thoughtfully presented in a lifelike pose, helping you understand how the skeletons keep animals moving.

Location: 10301 S. Sunnylane Road.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Cost: $12 for adults 12+, $10 for children 3-11 years, and free for children under 3.

Myriad Botanical Gardens

Forget what you thought you knew about botanical gardens, and check out Myriad Botanical Gardens. It’s much more than just a garden, with a children’s playground, an off-leash dog park, walking paths, and the stunning Crystal Bridge Conservatory all on-site. The gardens also regularly host art exhibits and seasonal events, such as an ice-skating rink during winter and a pumpkin patch in fall.

Location: 301 W. Reno.
Hours: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Cost: Free for everything except the conservatory.

National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum

Get a glimpse into Oklahoma City’s Wild West past at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Its historical documents, pictures, and artifacts tell stories of Oklahoma’s cowboys. There are also exhibits dedicated to rodeo heroes and the cowboys of the silver screen. The Children’s Cowboy Corral gives young fans a chance to put their ranch readiness to the test.

Location: 1700 NE 63rd St.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Cost: $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for children 6-12 years, and free for children 5 and under.

Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum

One of Oklahoma City’s most somber attractions, the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum is rated its best by TripAdvisor users. The museum tells the story of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in April 1995 and the people who lost their lives on that fateful day. Make sure you take a moment to honor their memory at the outdoor memorial and consider how much higher the death toll may have been at the survivor’s tree.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Oklahoma City Museum of Art

Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s impressive collection of 19th- and 20th-century American and European works makes it worth a look for any art buff. Pieces from Renoir, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Dale Chihuly anchor the permanent collection. Traveling exhibitions and film festivals ensure there’s always something new to see.

Location: 415 Couch Drive.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Cost: $14.95 for adults, $12.95 for seniors 62+ and college students, $7.95 for military members, and free for children 17 and under.

Oklahoma City Zoo

An Oklahoma City institution for more than 100 years, the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens boasts more than 500 animal species and plants from the local area and around the world. Meet friendly residents during interactive experiences such as sea lion shows, camel rides, giraffe feedings, and flamingo mingles. Fun events like Haunt the Zoo at Halloween and Safari Lights during the festive season provide unique ways to experience the fun of the zoo.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Cost: $12 for adults, $9 for children 3-11 years and seniors 65+, and free for children 2 and under.

Oklahoma History Center

You can learn more about what makes this state great at the Oklahoma History Center. Run by the Oklahoma Historical Society, its fascinating exhibits shine a light on Oklahoma’s first Native American tribes, pioneer life, the Crossroads of Commerce, and the state’s role in space exploration. If you haven’t yet had your fill of cowboys, the Oklahoma History Center has you covered there too. Interactive displays keep little visitors entertained. Take time to walk the Red River Journey outside the center, a quarter-mile walking tour that recreates the Red River Valley.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Cost: $12.50 for adults, $9 for children 5-11 years, students, and seniors 62+, and free for younger children, active military, and members.

Science Museum Oklahoma

Kids have so much to do at the Science Museum Oklahoma,and most don’t even realize they’re learning. Interactive exhibits encourage them to experience a tornado, discover engineering in the Tinkering Garage, and meet marine life in the Oceanarium. The museum is also home to the Kirkpatrick Planetarium and the Oklahoma Aviation and Space Hall of Fame. There’s more fun when you step outside, with an authentic Kyoto Garden, a Monarch Waystation, lawn games, and picnic tables for lunch.
