True to its slogan, “Where children play to learn and adults learn to play!”, the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum may provide you with a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your kids and encourage them to learn about the world. Read on to review our top seven tips for visiting this beloved museum.

DECIDE WHEN TO GO

The first step to planning your visit is deciding when you want to go to the museum. Establish the date and times of your trip. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The museum is closed on Mondays. It’s also closed on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the first two weeks after Labor Day.

Some families may opt to spend multiple days in the area and visit the museum more than once. If this applies to you, it’s a good idea to find local accommodations ahead of time. You can find a list of nearby hotels in Seminole on the museum’s website. You may be also interested in other kid-friendly attractions close by. For example, 33 minutes away is Lake Thunderbird State Park. This recreational spot has marinas, swim beaches, trails, a campground, and a nature center.

PLAN YOUR ITINERARY

Peruse the website’s resources, and think about the route you want to take through this huge museum. Study the indoor and outdoor map and mark the exhibitions you want to see the most. Go to those first in case you don’t have time for everything during your trip.

It’s also helpful to locate the three restrooms throughout the museum. Changing tables are available. There’s also a handi-capable center in the middle of the indoor area. All but a few of the exhibits are wheelchair accessible.

If you’ll want to shop in the gift shop, factor this into your plans. The shop is open daily until 4:30 p.m. and offers dolls, puzzles, games, souvenirs, books, and other items. You should also check out the events online. In particular, take a look at the museum’s holiday festivities.
