The 2023 Buick Encore GX: An Affordable Luxury Crossover SUV

2023 Buick Encore GX

Adding the letters GX to the Encore model might make it sound like a trim level. However, Buick decided to add GX to the name to distinguish the 2023 version from Encore's earlier model years. Rumors are swirling that this is the last year of production for the Encore model. So, now is the time to buy your Buick Encore because the future is uncertain for this luxury crossover SUV.

What's New for the 2023 Buick Encore GX?

There are no significant changes to the 2023 Buick Encore GX from the 2022 model. The 2023 Encore GX is the fourth year of production for the current version of the model. Any major changes to the model will be made in the 2024 model year if it returns for another year of production.

Familiar Features Returning for the 2023 Buick Encore GX

The 2023 Encore GX comes in three trim levels: Preferred, Select, and Essence. The Preferred trim level is a nicely appointed entry-level vehicle, starting at an MSRP of $25,900. But if you're looking for a more aggressive appearance, the Sport Touring package is available. And a total of eight exterior paint colors and three different interior colors are offered.

Preferred

The Preferred trim package comes with an array of technology features, including an infotainment system with an 8-inch color touch screen and push-button controls underneath. It also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A 4.2-inch color driver information center resides between an analog speedometer and an RPM indicator. Charge-only USB ports are included, as is a USB-A and USB-C port. Power windows, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an in-vehicle ionizer, power door locks, and manual seats are standard.

Select

The Select trim level adds features that improve upon the Preferred trim but don't quite reach the Essence level. Some standard items include a 10-way power driver's seat and power lumbar, rear center armrest, navigation in the infotainment system, a head-up display, and heated driver's and passenger's seats.

Essence

The top-of-the-line Essence includes features that you never knew you could live without. Some of the standard features at this level include a 120-volt power outlet so you can plug electronics into your car directly without an inverter. The driver can ride comfortably with heated power seats and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel. Passengers will also be comfortable with power and heated seating that can fold down. And all the seats in the Essence have leather-appointed trim.

Last but not least, the Essence has a premium six-speaker sound system and wireless charging for smartphones is available as an option.

Powertrains Available for the 2023 Buick Encore GX

Two engines are available for the 2023 Encore GX. They include an Ecotec 1.2L turbo engine standard on the Preferred and Select trims. However, it is not available on the Essence trim. The other available engine is an Ecotec 1.3L turbo engine not available on the Preferred. Instead, it is optional on the Select and is standard on the Essence. Both engine types are paired with a continuously variable transmission. The estimated gas mileage is 29 city/32 highway.

All trim levels are available in a front-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive system. The 2023 Encore GX can tow 1,000 pounds, and a trailer hitch is available as an option.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2023 Buick Encore GX comes nicely equipped with the safety features you've come to expect from modern cars and ones designed by Buick's team of engineers. The standard safety and driver-assistance features include the following:

  • Airbag system
  • Front pedestrian braking
  • LATCH system
  • LED daytime running lights
  • Lane-keep assist with lane departure warning
  • Rear vision camera
  • StabiliTrak traction control
  • Teen driver restriction
  • Tire pressure monitoring system

  • Following distance indicator
  • Rear child security
  • Automatic emergency braking

These safety systems and driver-assistance technologies help you and your passengers stay safe on the road. You can feel confident behind the wheel, knowing that your Encore GX has you covered.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The 2023 Buick Encore GX can comfortably seat five adult passengers and has a large cargo area even when the rear seats are upright. The front seats have 39.70 inches of headroom and 40.90 inches of legroom. Both front seats have 51.90 inches of hip room. The headroom for the rear passenger seats is 38.10 inches, with 36 inches of legroom behind the front seats. The total hip room in the back seats is 47.50 inches.

There's a total of 23.50 square feet of cargo space when the rear seats are up, which more than doubles to 50.20 square feet when the rear seats are down. The rear seats feature a 60/40 split, so you can configure the rear cargo space as needed. But when you need as much length as possible for your cargo, you can fold down the front passenger seat for more room. A hands-free power liftgate trigger is also available as an option.

We have plenty of choices to meet your needs, so let's discuss the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD towing capacity in detail. WHAT IS THE 2023 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 HD TOWING CAPACITY? 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD Heavy-duty trucks get rated based on their maximum towing and payload ratings, even if users do not always test those massive loads. When properly equipped, the Turbo-Diesel Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD has a towing capacity of 36,000 pounds. The gas-powered Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD can tow up to 17,400 pounds. HOW TO REACH THE MAXIMUM CHEVROLET SILVERADO TOWING CAPACITY If you're purchasing the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD for its towing capabilities, you may want to learn more about its abilities to ensure it can handle the load you want to carry. Remember exceeding what your vehicle is designed to tow can strain your transmission and engine, damage your tires, accelerate brake wear, and even warp your chassis. Eventually, this could turn out to be catastrophic and lead to severe bodily injury and property damage. That's why experts add that a truck can achieve a specific towing capacity only when they're adequately equipped. To be properly equipped means you must equip the vehicle with the right tools and components to operate at its best. For the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, the 6.6-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel delivers 450 horsepower and a remarkable 910 pound-feet of torque. That's enough capability to carry heavy equipment to your job site without issues. CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 HD TOWING AND TRAILERING PACKAGES The iconic Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD comes with three trailering packages to increase capability, confidence, and convenience. Available across all trim levels, the basic trailering package adds all the essential towing features, such as the trailer hitch, hitch guidance, and electrical harness. The Max trailering package adds several other handy features, such as suspension upgrades, automatic locking rear differential, trailer brake controller, and enhanced radiator cooling. The advanced trailering package offers the ideal towing equipment, such as the tire pressure and temperature monitoring system, hitch guidance with hitch view, and advanced trailering system (in-vehicle). GENERAL TIPS FOR IMPROVING YOUR CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 HD'S TOWING CAPACITY Follow these tips to improve your Chevrolet Silverado's towing capacity: INCREASE YOUR SUSPENSION While it's likely to be expensive, upgrading your suspension is one of the best ways to increase your Silverado 3500 HD's towing capacity. A larger suspension reduces the strain on the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and eases the pressure you put on the vehicle. The increased suspension improves how your vehicle handles and destabilizes the load by reducing the extent to which the pickup sways side to side. UPGRADE THE AXLES You can carry heavy-duty components with greater ease when you upgrade your axles. The upgraded axle also features an enhanced gear ratio that allows you to tow heavy loads. Again, this is also an expensive upgrade and must be handled by an experienced Chevrolet Silverado service provider. You should also think critically about whether it's worth upgrading your axles to increase towing capacity. UPGRADE THE BRAKES When you start altering your vehicle to handle larger loads, you should also consider how these changes may affect other parts of your truck. If loads are too heavy, your brakes will have to work harder to slow down the vehicle. When you upgrade your rotors and brake pads, you're preparing your truck for effective management of stress and friction that comes from additional weight. INSTALL AN UP-TASK HITCH Be sure to install an up-task hitch when preparing your truck for higher towing capacity. A class IV hitch can handle up to 10,000 pounds, while a class III can handle about 5,000 pounds. Attach your hitch receiver to the vehicle chassis, which is a part of the truck that can handle the weight. REPLACE YOUR INTAKE AND EXHAUST Another upgrade you can do to improve your Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD's towing capacity is replacing the intake and exhaust. These parts help your truck breathe easily. When you replace them, you get better performance overall and greater torque when hauling a heavy load. HOW TO TEST THE TOWING CAPACITY IN YOUR CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 HD Before you start, ensure all numbers you use have the same weight units. For instance, don't mix kilograms with pounds. Load your vehicle with the correct number of passengers and all the cargo you want to transport in your towing vehicle, particularly heavy items such as generators. Take the vehicle to a CAT Scale or truck stop and weigh your vehicle to get the scale weight. Save this figure. You can check the GVWR label. GVWR doesn't represent the vehicle's actual weight with passengers, driver, and cargo inside. Subtract the scale weight from the GVWR to get the actual towing capacity for your Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD. START TOWING WITH THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 HD TODAY Now that you know how capable, reliable, and powerful the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD is, why not start your purchase process now? Our sales representatives at Seminole Chevy GMC have a large inventory of new Chevrolet Silverados and other Chevy models available in new or used condition.
